Le 29/31 Socio-Cultural Center

Driven by a committed network of community organizations and a supportive project owner, this participatory project ensures that the program and spaces are developed with the needs of current and future users in mind: architectural consultation and workshops that involve residents in the design and construction processes. Significant emphasis is placed on reuse, with the preservation of part of the building, a concrete slab, wooden structural elements, and woodwork for the interior glazing. For new materials, cost savings are achieved on interior finishes, allowing both for the customization of partition surfaces and, in the upper sections, the use of healthy and innovative materials: hardwood species (poplar) and raw earth plasters mixed with hemp and flax are on the menu

Since it meets at least two criteria in four categories (out of five), this project was selected for inclusion in this atlas.
